These awards are given annually from the foundation to the graduate who best represents the program motto of vigilence, knowledge, and compassion and to the graduate who demonstrates exceptional clinical performance.
Congratulations to Emily Decker
Emily Decker, ’14, was selected as PANA’s Outstanding Student of the Year last week at the organization’s annual Spring Symposium at the Hotel Hershey last week. The award recognizes a senior student from a Pennsylvania nurse anesthesia program who shows a great commitment to the advancement of the art and science and overall profession of nurse anesthesia. The student must also hold a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Emily has excelled in her clinical performance and has been very involved with our program’s extracurricular activities as her class’s student representative and is well deserving of this accolade. Everyone at the York College of PA/Wellspan Health Nurse Anesthesia Program is extremely proud of her accomplishments and appreciate her representation of our program in such a positive way.

Jason Huffman ’14, in the York College/Wellspan Health Nurse Anesthetist Program has written an article, “The Safe and Effective Use of Pharmacological Agents Used for Sedation During Radiological Procedures”, which has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Radiology Nursing. It is scheduled to appear in the September 2014 issue.

Amy Reed ’14 and Jason Huffman ’14 took 1st and 2nd place for their presentations at the 2013 Spring Anesthesia Conference sponsored by Allegheny Anesthetists. Amy won 1st place with her presentation on the History of Curare and Jason won 2nd place with his presentation on Artificial Hemoglobin. Well done!
